Snowpocolypse

The current forecast is calling for between 20 and 30 inches of snow, with the possibility of more than 30 in certain areas. They're saying this storm is going to be bigger than the blizzard we had in December. In fact, it might be the biggest snowstorm for the DC area, EVER.

Wow!

Right now we've gotten about 3 inches of snow and the storm is really ramping up. It's supposed to be the worst between 10pm tonight and 3pm tomorrow, with blizzard conditions (30-40mph winds and really heavy snow) continuing for most of that time.

This winter is the snowiest I can remember. We had blizzards in 1993, 1996, 2003 and 2009, but we've never had two blizzards in one season, and I don't think we've ever had over 30 inches of snow. I tried looking up the snowfall record for this area, and the NOAA says that in 1922, Washington DC received 28 inches of snow. If that's the case, we might actually break that record with this storm.

Right now the hubby and I are sitting in the family room with all of the blinds open, watching the snow. It's really pretty, and even though we're pretty "snowed out" at this point in the season, it's kind of thrilling to think about such a massive, powerful storm delivering so much snow. Everyone always says I should've been a meteorologist :P

I'll keep you updated on the storm! Tomorrow is the day I work at the barn, so we might be venturing out in 30+ inches of snow. I mean, hey, the truck managed just fine in 20 inches. What's another 10? haha. Luckily both Sparkle and Sierra are snug and warm in stalls tonight. This storm is not something I'd even want Sierra to be stuck outside in.
